Over the Weekend: Delirium Wave 2 Opening Photos and Video

On Friday night, things got steamy inside Illiterate for the opening of Delirium: Wave 2.  The reinstallation of photographer Mark Sink's personal collection included ten new artists and nearly double the amount of art from Wave 1. For this second round Mark built further on the sense of the show's ecstactic confusion not only by increasing the quantity and variety of work, but also by displaying it in a salon style stacked manner, like a refrigerator door covered in high concept photography and painting.

Before the crowd arrived, Marak's Dog Utah gave the room one last inspection.

Mark's sole choice of street photographs in the exhibit came from this nefarious fellow, Joel Dellenbach. An inveterate documentarian, Joel not only captures experiences by any means necessary, he also creates them. At Illiterate, he chose to do this with spontaneous sound.

Bringing a full band's worth of instruments and devices, Joel began the night playing and looping the parts for his non existent bandmates.

As the night progressed the band grew to include another Delirium artist, Harry Walters, on bass guitar, along with his friend/MC/multi-instrumentalist Josh "Strange" Powers, and some grey haired guy who really liked to bark into the microphone.

Kristen Hatgi, Mark's girlfriend and photographic collaborater, showed up ready to snap the night away.

Jason Appleton's enticing paint strip sculpture attracted many wandering hands throughout the evening.  If only all those curious people

realized how Jason (above) made the piece glisten.

Not only did Joel Dellenbach play for the crowd, he also video taped the evening while doing it.
